Boost.ai is delighted to announce the release of features and controls for GDPR compliance in conversational AI.

Boost.ai’s compliance team has been working hard over the last year to ensure that you can continue to use conversational AI with confidence, once the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) becomes enforceable on 25 May 2018.

This has resulted in new additions, in the form of features and options in the admin panel, that will make it easier to comply with the new regulation. We’re also introducing an updated chat API which has been meticulously developed to support GDPR adaptations, such as consent handling.

Some of the enhancements to the admin panel are options on how it will handle specific issues, such as data retention, anonymization and privacy. These new features can help you actively demonstrate compliance with GDPR through auditable logs and the capability to flexibly anonymize data.

The update is currently scheduled for release this week and will be installed on all servers in due course.

Chat window redesign

Privacy is the central component of GDPR and we have developed a number of ways in which you can scale privacy settings to meet the needs of your end users. Accordingly, a substantial part of the upcoming update is a complete redesign of the chat panel and window, including several features for GDPR compliance.

These new features lets you link to your privacy policy, and provides the end users with the ability to delete or download their conversations inside the chat window. You can ask for consent from your end users to be able to process their data, in order to improve the quality of your services. You can also enable extended consent by asking for permission to use the data for other purposes.

Using the intuitive new consent section of the admin panel, you will now be able to design the reply messages when asking for consent so that the messages detail the specific purposes for which you intend to use the data.

GDPR made easy

The GDPR is an unprecedented and important regulation, and it will - in one way or another - affect how your organization handles data.

What is important to note, however, is that while we have made this process as flexible and easily adaptable as possible for you in the new admin and chat panels, you are still ultimately responsible for how your organization approaches and adapts to the new regulation.

We hope you’ll find the new features and controls helpful so you can continue to confidently use the James platform. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about GDPR for virtual agents.
